Summary
In Part 2, Chapter 2, the narrator notices that the rental house contains a copy of the thriller book she had partially read in the Airbnb. The narrator continues reading the book. She stops reading after the killer is arrested and sent to prison. The narrator also notices that her ex-boyfriend is giving his lecture at an institution in town. One day, in a conversation with the friend, the friend states that she has been having trouble focusing on reading lately. The narrator and the friend spend the night watching movies from the house’s DVD collection. The next day, the narrator exercises in a gym near the rental house. She mentions her friend’s cancer when speaking to a personal trainer in the gym. The trainer offers his sympathy and hugs her.
