Summary
Chapter 11
The chapter opens with Frannie writing to Phil. She explains her actual relationship with Alice and her family. Frannie had never married, so she wasn’t technically their grandmother. She was a neighbor that always helped to take care of the family and was given the honorary title of grandmother. Alice wakes up and is prompted by the nurse to clean herself up. She goes into the bathroom and finally looks at herself in the mirror. She’s surprised at how much weight she’s lost and the way her body just looks and feels so differently. She starts to put on some of the makeup and use the beauty products packed away in her bag. It all starts to feel natural and she can feel flashes of memory from the different scents she uses and by applying the makeup. She also...
