Chapter 2 Summary
Abby's first impression of England comes from the pale people who disembark with her and ride the shuttle into the airport. Even though they speak the same language, the narrator says that Abby could not understand a word they were saying.
Abby meets Reuben at the airport, and is relieved to hear an American accent. Reuben says that he could recognize Abby because her mother had called to describe her to him.
In the cab on the way into the city, Reuben tells Abby what she can expect from classes. He says that her mother asked him to provide weekly updates on her well-being.
