Summary

Mona convinces Pa to go to a fun fair with the rest of the family, Shaan, Maqsud, and Ged by telling him that Ged's mother will also be coming. The group have planned the trip as a fun break while practicing for Durham and Cleveland. Though Gopi does have fun, she is struck by what a depressing and hollow place the fun fair is. Their group breaks up into smaller cliques - Mona and Shaan; Ged, Khush, and Gopi; and the adults.

Mona uses her money to buy drinks and snacks for everyone, who reconvene by the concessions stands. Mona is exceptionally generous, buying lots of food for the group, but does it in such a way that it looks like Pa's money. Shaan has friends at the fun fair, they look cool and ride skateboards.
