Summary
In Chapter Sixteen, Candice, Charlie and Daron were interviewed. All three told the same story about the performative intervention. The sheriff honed in on Charlie as he noticed he was younger than the other students by two years. Charlie admitted he graduated early. The sheriff asked if he was that smart why it didn’t occur to him that what they were doing was a bad idea. He accused Charlie of deserting Candice and then blaming her when Charlie said he couldn’t change Candice’s mind once she got it set.
