Summary
“Helpless Little Things” is narrated by a criminal and con artist named Danny. He is cynical in nature, and he primarily makes a living by selling drugs in large quantities to drug dealers. One day, while he is in Portland, Oregon, he steals some official materials from the Greenpeace organization. He then recruits two homeless teenagers—Kevin and Julie—to pose as Greenpeace volunteers and scam people out of money. Julie says that she is homeless because her stepfather was sexually molesting her, and she was kicked out of the house after accusing him. One day, Danny strip searches Kevin and Julie to make sure that they are not stealing more than their allotted share of the money. Julie apparently is somewhat traumatized by the search, and she becomes less effective at perpetrating the Greenpeace scam...
