Ferguson/St. Louis
Ferguson is where Michael Brown was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson. For a long time after his death, Ferguson become the site of protests against systemic racism in the United States. In fact, it is the location of the longest protest against police brutality in United States history. Ferguson and the larger St. Louis area to which it belongs are also a keen example of resegregation in American cities. Ferguson and St. Louis therefore demonstrate how resegregation has happened over the years, as well as how systemic racism impacts local communities and the lives of people of color.
