Falling House

The house that falls as a result of the collapsing cliff is a symbol of inevitable change. Walk watches as another of the houses in Cape Haven collapses and thinks that things are changing regardless of his attempts to keep the town the same.

Pills

Pills are a symbol of addiction. Walk tries to get Star to see a counselor after her overdose and warns her that she cannot continue living her life as she is doing. Star, who believes Walk is addicted to the pills he takes, asks Walk if he is still taking those pills. Walk does not respond because he wants people to be misled and believe he has an addiction rather than a crippling disease.
