Summary
In Chapter 38, Walk shaved his beard in preparation for that day’s court session. Without the beard, he looked gaunt and sick. He ignored the looks he received from people who had seen him in court previously.
During questioning, Leah was called to the stand. She and Walk had called a temporary truce and Leah had agreed to his plan to ensure Vincent was found not guilty by claiming his father’s gun had been stolen from his house. Leah testified she found the theft report while doing data entry to update the system. According to the report, Vincent’s late mother claimed she forgot to lock the safe. Cash and some jewelry as well as the gun were reported stolen.
