Summary

In Chapter 16, Walk went to Star’s house and was surprised when he found Darke inside. Darke claimed he wanted to talk to Duchess, to tell her he was sorry. Walk would not tell him where she was. Before Darke left, he asked Walk to tell Duchess he had been asking about her. Walk mentioned to Darke that Vincent was suddenly thinking about selling his house. Darke claimed he had no idea why. Walk looked inside the house and saw that ceiling panels had been pushed up, the appliances moved, and holes had been punched in the drywall.

In Chapter 17, Duchess and Robin started school. Duchess told Robin he wished their mother was there. In Duchess’s classroom, Thomas Noble sat beside her. She noticed he had a misshapen hand. He asked if she remembered him.
