Summary
In Chapter 11, Walk drove Duchess and Robin to Montana where they would stay with their grandfather, Hal. They had never met Hal before.
Robin still did not remember what happened the night Star died. Walk admitted to Hal that he was not sure if Vincent was really guilty. Walk expressed his sorrow, not just for Star and Sissy, but also for Hal’s wife. She had died by suicide the night Vincent was sentenced. Star had found her body.
Walk also warned Hal that Darke, a man who had treated Star roughly, might be after Duchess. He told Hal about the fire that destroyed Darke’s club and infers that Duchess might have had something to do with it. Walk said he suspected Darke had something to do with Star’s death. Hal assured Walk he could keep Duchess and Robin safe.
