Summary
Chapter Sixteen, “Orion Oh” - Orion and Ariane go to the beach, where they reminisce about family trips taken to the same beach and about how Ariane and Marissa used to go on their own and walk down to the section where people would sunbathe nude. This leads Ariane to comment about how she knew a lot more about sex than Annie thought she did when they had a conversation about sex when Ariane was a teenager. Ariane’s recounting of that conversation leads Orion back to thinking again about Ariane’s question – about whether Annie was a good mother. Their conversation about families also leads Orion to discuss what he has found out about his Chinese family from a cousin he has found in Cincinnati – that his grandfather was an immigrant from China, and that he worked...
