Summary
Chapter Three, “Annie Oh" - On her way out to the store to buy some cigarettes, Annie asks Minnie if she wants some for herself. As she reflects on her growing nervousness about getting in married in Three Rivers, Connecticut (the town where she grew up, and in which she raised her children), Annie also comments on the different ways she and Minnie keep secrets from Viveca (their smoking, Minnie’s drinking on the job, Annie’s extravagant tips) because they both know how disapproving she would be.
