Summary
Chapter 27 consists of a single sentence that reads: “I am afraid he never loved me” (212). In Chapter 28, Marin looks out her window. She sees a bird fly by the window and hears a branch break and fall to the ground. She thinks: “I should have gone with her [Mabel]” (213).
In Chapter 29, Marin sits on her bed, watching out her window. She then finds a documentary online about a potter. As she watches, she feels the itch to move around, so she pauses the movie and runs down her hallway back and forth. She yells and enters the stairway, running to the top floor.
