Summary
Chapter 10 takes place in June; thus, it is a retelling of the past. A few weeks after Ben’s party, Marin and Mabel snuck out of their houses at night to go to the beach. Marin brought with her a bottle of Gramps’s whiskey. Around three in the morning, they sat on the beach. Marin asked: “Remember how we used to practice kissing?” (109). They giggled and continued to drink. Mabel eventually reached for Marin and kissed her again. Marin joked: “What would Sister Josephine say?” (110) They touched and embraced, finally unfastening their jeans. They spent the night together like this on the beach. The next day, Marin “didn’t regret anything” (111).
