Summary
Chapter Seven takes place in June; thus, it is a retelling of the past. Mabel and Marin arrived at Mabel’s family house. Her mother Ana was outside. Ana asked the girls to take a look at her “latest collage” (76). Ana’s success as an artist was currently growing. Her newest collage depicted a night sky with glittering stars. Ana asked the girls what this piece was missing. Marin “understood how she’d feel stuck” (77).
Marin and Mabel had just gone shopping; they spent an hour looking for dresses for Ben’s party that would occur later that night. The girls chose identical dresses, except in different colors.
