Leroya “Riley” Wilson
Riley has always been ambitious. Since she was a little girl, she dreamed of someday being a news anchor. Being a racial minority has made Riley work extra hard to get people to recognize her work. This means that she has difficulty maintaining a healthy work-life balance, as Riley often prioritizes work over maintaining her relationships and friendships.
As a child, she experienced countless instances of racism. As an adult, Riley struggles under the weight of generational trauma. She is deeply disturbed when she learns that one of her ancestors was lynched. Justin Dwyer’s shooting touches her personally, as does the Black Lives Matter movement as a whole.
Riley struggles to communicate her experiences with racism to her white friends. Her shame and fear of rejection prevents her from opening up to both Jen and Corey. This builds resentment on both sides, further shutting Riley...
