Summary

In Chapter 19, Ash and Belle lie in bed together eating, reading magazines, and chatting. Ash is reminded of Belle as a toddler (131). She then asks Belle if Honey has a girlfriend. Belle admits that he does. Although Belle is not “thrilled about it either,” she says Ash is “just hurting [her] own feelings” complaining about it (132).

In Chapter 20, while Ash is sleeping in Edi’s room, Edi falls. Dr. Soprano explains that because they can only ensure that “she’s as comfortable as possible,” they cannot intervene in the way Ash wants (136).

Realizing Edi is near the end, Ash emails Jonah, Jude, Alice, Jules, Honey, and her parents, urging them to come up to say goodbye as soon as possible (139). Later that day, Daisy’s gift arrives. It is The Cake. Edi is not as impressed as she remembered.
