Wayward Pines is located in the former state of Idaho, in the former United States of America. It is the creation of billionaire David Pilcher, who recognized corruption in human DNA, put several hundred people to sleep in suspended animation for 1800 years, and then transformed Wayward Pines into the last vestige of human civilization in the world. Wayward Pines is a totally self-sufficient community, and it is a beautiful and quiet place. However, its residents feel trapped and hemmed in, and want to know what exists in the outside world.
