Ethan Burke
Ethan Burke is the thirty-seven year old principle protagonist of Blake Crouch’s novel “Wayward”. An Iraq War veteran and former Secret Service agent, Ethan is put into suspended animation for 1800 years, wakes up outside of Wayward Pines, discovers the truth about Pilcher and the town, and becomes the sheriff in order to have a chance at life, and to be reunited with his family – his wife, Theresa, and son, Ben. Ethan does not enjoy his job as sheriff, because he is one of the few people who knows the truth about the outside world, and must lie to all the people of the town about it. Ethan is tasked with discovering the murderer of Pilcher’s daughter, Alyssa, and comes to discover that it is Pilcher and Pam who are responsible.
