Summary

Chapter 22 – Tobias is now one night from home. He raises his hands to the fire he has built and can’t wait to get back.

Chapter 23 – Pilcher calls Ethan at eight in the evening at the sheriff’s office, unhappy about the chip. Ethan says he will get it put back in first thing in the morning. Pilcher goes on to explain that Pam is thirty minutes late in returning to the mountain. It is because Ethan has slipped her chip into the purse of a woman in town. Ethan calls the ten officers to announce the fete for Kate and Harold. The officers keep machetes. Ethan then records a voice message to be delivered to every home in the town by phone.
