Summary
Chapter 8 – Tobias is living out in the wilderness, nearly out of medical supplies and ammunition. 1,287 days he has been out in the wild, having made it as far north as Seattle, and is headed home with incredibly important news.
Chapter 9 – Ethan goes to talk to Ted, head of the surveillance group at the mountain complex. Ethan asks Ted how it is possible such a sophisticated surveillance system misses a murder. Fourteen years of the elements have destroyed cameras, creating certain blind spots. They have houses and the town sufficiently wired with microphones, and rely most heavily on audio data to monitor people, apart from video and tracking devices.
