Summary

Chapter 53 is from Shepard's perspective. Lamb has immediately recognized the others as magicians and Baz says they are his friends. Lamb identifies Penny as a magician and Shepard identifies himself as a “Bleeder.” Shepard is interested when Simon identifies himself as Baz's boyfriend, then suggests they all take a seat and talk. Lamb is not afraid as they begin to explain. Penny says they knew Baz for years before discovering he is a vampire. Lamb initially says he sees no reason to help but eventually realizes that Lamb is the vampire king of Las Vegas and points out that they can help bring down the other vampires. He refuses to help them. Baz and Simon argue on the way back to their room but are interrupted by two vampires who order them inside.
