Summary
In Chapter 9, Jake puts Marc through a series of relatively easy exercises and stretches. Jake then demands that Marc run the mile in less than seven minutes. When Marc says he will try, Jake says Marc's best has not yet been good enough. He orders him to get outside his comfort zone. Marc feels Jake is angry and is determined to meet Jake's expectations. Marc keeps up at first though he doubts he can keep up this pace. Marc makes it to the third block before his lungs burn and he backs off a bit. Jake order him to keep up. Marc does, though he is so out of breath he cannot answer. When they begin to climb the hill, Jake orders Marc to speed up. Marc believes he is running as hard as he can, then he runs harder.
