Part 1: Chapter 3 Summary
Travis spends the evening trying to decide if he is losing his mind. Suddenly, the dog becomes interested in the books on Travis's shelves, sniffing at them. Travis gets up and begins pulling out the books the dog appears to be interested in and giving him a brief synopsis of their plots. After a while, it appears the dog is not finding what he wants and is frustrated. Suddenly, he just stops. Travis becomes frustrated and expresses this to the dog. The dog jumps up and disappears into the kitchen, reappearing a moment later with a beer in his mouth. Travis takes the dog back to the kitchen and insists he does it again. The dog does. Travis tells himself this could simply be a trick the dog's previous owner had taught him, but the way the dog picked the beer...
