Summary

Mare travels in a jet with the supplies the Scarlet Guard raided from Corvium. Davidson believes that they should not have left any soldiers in Corvium, but the silvers had opposed abandoning the city. Cal, however, agrees with Davidson as he does not want to leave anything Maven could use. Mare is happy to finally leave as she is haunted by the battle. She thinks of the Stilts where she grew up as a slave with her family. She wishes places like that, Red slums, and other Silver cities would be destroyed like Corvium.

As they arrive in Piedmont Mare and the other Reds rush to see their families while the Silvers wait behind. Her family rushes out to meet her and cheers for Corvium's fall. Her father, however, is pessimistic as he believes there will always be stronger silver...
