Summary

Chapter 30 returns to the first-person point of view. Even though Melissa told her children that she and Ryan were not having an affair, the narrator does not believe her. He thinks the rumors confirm that attacking his father was the right thing to do, and that the attack stopped something worse from happening.

Chapter 31 includes more information from the Facebook page. The residents talk about the fight between Melissa and Charlie. One poster suggests that Lewis is “not right in the head” (215) because of his violent streaks. Someone else argues that just because a child gets in a fight does not mean that he is mentally ill.
