Summary

In Chapter 15, on the way to the hospital, Melissa pressured Grace to tell her what happened to Patrick until Grace finally broke down, screaming. Melissa offered to take Grace back to her grandparents’ house, but Grace said that she wanted to see her father.

Peter Mileham and his wife Ellie were visiting with Patrick when Melissa and Grace entered Peter’s hospital room. Peter asked Melissa if she would be at the community meeting and search that his father, Tommy, had arranged. It was the first that Melissa had heard about a search. After Peter and Ellie left, Melissa encouraged Grace to speak to Patrick. There was a spike in the monitor when she did. Melissa tried to get Grace to take her father’s hand, but Grace screamed she did not want to and ran from the room.
