Part 2, Chapter 9 Summary
Manna meets Geng Yang, who is preparing to return to his home. She agrees to come by that evening and pick up two books he borrowed from Lin, who left two weeks ago for Shenyang. During their conversation, Geng Yang exudes a predatory sexuality that Manna finds somewhat exciting. She wishes Lin could be a little more like him, more masculine and passionate.
When Manna gets to the infectious diseases ward, it is almost deserted and Geng Yang has been drinking. He begins flirting with her, telling her he knows she is interested in him, that he can see it in her eyes. He taunts her about her virginity, saying Lin isn't even man enough to make her is mistress and doesn't know how to handle women. He says he wonders if Lin is bisexual.
