The Crab Shack
The crab shack is Lorenzo and Jean’s name for the cabin that Lorenzo stays in while he is working at the lab in America. It is at this shack that they have the sexual encounter during which Jean’s baby is conceived. They return to this shack after they begin working on the cure for fluent aphasia to discuss what options they have as far as getting Jean and her unborn baby out of the country.
The McClellan Home
The McClellan home is where a good deal of the action in the novel takes place. Since Jean has been forced to quit working, she spends a good deal of time at home.
