Point of View
The point of view of this novel is third person omniscient. The point of view moves from character to character depending on whose view would be most informative during a given scene. The majority of the novel is seen through the eyes of Dirk Pitt, the novel's hero, but also through the eyes of a collection of characters who are important to the overall plot of the novel. Some of these characters are sympathetic, such as Loren Smith and Al Giordino. Others are dark characters with nothing but malice in mind, like Congressman Daggat. Still others are both sympathetic and dangerous, such as Patrick Fawkes.
