Fifteen years passed since Fenton Dawkins told Brian Limestone about the benefactor who gave a thousand dollars a year to the research librarian. Only two requirements came with it. He was never to tell, and if anyone came in asking for Katherine Heaton, Limestone was to contact the number enclosed. He tears open the envelope and tells the voice who answers what happened.
