Chapter 55-59 Summary
Cross awakens, feeling that someone has been in the house. He dismisses the notion and continues to sleep.
After fourteen hours, Cross feels much better. Jannie, his daughter, brings him breakfast in bed. When all the children join them, Cross assures them that he will make a complete recovery. Silently, though, he remembers Snyder's warning and harbors doubts.
After enjoying a day's worth of home cooked meals, Cross reviews the information about the murder cases from home. He finally spots a link between the locations of the murders and the traveling magic show of Daniel and Charles. He sees that they will next perform in New Orleans.
