Encounter Summary
In this poem, the poet encounters Jesus Christ on his way to death.
Encounter Analysis
The poet's encounter with Christ is entirely accidental; he chooses the path without knowing where it goes, or where Christ is headed. When the poet hears the hooting mob that is both loud and weak, he is tempted to turn back but, out of curiosity, he remains where he is.
