Port Town Summary
The poet exhorts a sailor boy to come with him onto the land and then back out to the sea.
Port Town Analysis
Like "Harlem Night," this poem is the joyful enjoinder of the poet to a vaguely sketched person, though in this case it is not "you" to whom he speaks, but to a sailor boy. This poem hints at the homosexuality which some have ascribed to Hughes, though the hint is subtle—perhaps even nonexistent.
