Vera Wong Zhuzhu

Vera Wong Zhuzhu is one of the main characters and the narrator who is followed the most often. She often refers to herself as a typical Chinese mother and lives with traditional values passed on from her parents. This means that she is hard-working and confident, but also talks down to the younger generation because she sees them as lazy or unmotivated. One big part of this is Vera’s traditional views on respect in which the older is always respected, but does not have to return it. The more time she spends with her suspects, the more Vera starts to see how hard they actually work and comes to appreciate their achievements.
