Chapter Eighteen Summary
Venetia finally agrees with Mrs. Hendred that it wouldn't do for her to take up house as she had been planning to do. Mrs. Hendred, though she had been arguing this since Venetia arrived, is not as elated if she would have been if this response had come earlier. Venetia has already talked of setting up house for herself, and even of joining a nunnery. Now she is worried what her next scheme might be.
Venetia spends the next few days coming up with and discarding plans to get Damerel back. She must convince Damerel to marry her. If Damerel was unwilling to listen to her before that what society thinks doesn't matter to her, he will probably be unwilling to listen now. She has to come up with a way to show him.
