Chapters Six and Seven Summary
After Yardley departs, Venetia, Aubrey, and Damerel discuss him for a short period of time. Aubrey is very upset with the way that Yardley assumes authority when he has none. Venetia, too is upset. In fact, she even told Yardley to leave when he was upsetting Aubrey. The lack of hospitality isn't like her. Damerel reveals that he has guessed that Yardley is one of Venetia's suitors that she has told him about. She had described him as "worthy." He agrees that "worth" is a very accurate way to describe Yardley.
Venetia and Aubrey then find out that Damerel's intrusion was designed simply to get rid of Yardley. They are both grateful. In getting rid Yardley when Yardley was upsetting Aubrey, Damerel gains Mrs. Priddy's favor, and Yardley loses it, because Damerel makes sure that Mrs. Priddy...
