Summary
Back in the present, Lucky asks what is going on and Meena says they are a coven. They tell Morticia to tell her story next. In New York, 2016, at her job at a bookstore, Morticia goes through several recently donated items. She finds a fancy blue box labeled Low & Company, Salem, MA, and finds the spoon inside.
In the next chapter, Meena points out the emptiness of Lucky’s life, asking why she should have to work jobs she hates just to take care of Stella. Meena explains that women’s magic—witchcraft—was shunned and denounced and hidden by men in order to propagate capitalism and colonialism.
