Honor and Pride
Honor and pride is a central theme to the story and mostly represented through the character of Raine. Raine's sense of pride is much greater than the rest of his brothers, although the Montgomery brothers are extremely loyal to one another. Raine's sense of honor and pride probably come from the fact that is was born to such a strong, caring family. He will do anything possible to uphold the name of Montgomery.
While it is good to be loyal to one's family, Raine's pride can balloon his ego. He feels the need to fight his own battles and refuses all help from others, even his brothers and family.
