Part Two: Chapter: 16-17 (pg 214-240) Summary
Raine and Gavin are discussing further family matters as Judith joins them. To Raine's happy astonishment, a bathed, groomed, and well dressed Alyx follows Judith into the room. Alyx looks beautiful. Raine decides to take her to the local fair to buy fabric, lace, and other materials to make gowns for Alyx. They are accompanied by Raine's men, who will provide protection for them. She is shocked by the lustrous, expensive fabrics and is amazed that one person could have so many gowns.
While at the fair, there is a performance happening and Raine pulls Alyx towards the gathering crowd to watch. Alyx does not like being closed in by the large group of people. A man grabs Alyx's arm and says that he wants to lead her to safety. She agrees because...
