Part 7, Chapter 17 Summary
Lestat travels to New Orleans and accepts it with open arms. He knows that he is the first of his kind to undertake a cross-Atlantic trip. He wanders about the waterfront and sees the differences between this new place and the places that he has been in his life. As Lestat calls it, New Orleans is the most forsaken outpost of the Savage Garden. He welcomes it as his new home where he will remain.
Part 7, Chapter 17 Analysis
Lestat finally makes the Atlantic crossing into the New World. He treats it as though it is a new beginning for him, and it is. He goes about unchallenged among the dangerous waterfront gambling houses and other dingy areas of New Orleans. He reaches the New World and once again his love of the world reawakens. Lestat reflects upon his experiences as lessons...
