Part 7, Chapter 4 Summary
Marius leads Lestat into a chapel deep down in the mountain itself. Those Who Must Be Kept appear to be a pair of statues dressed in Egyptian clothing. Upon closer examination, Lestat discovers that they are alive and they are vampires. The thought that they are alive and unmoving frightens Lestat and he wants Marius to take him out of there. Marius recounts tales of when he had seen them move, though he admits they have not moved in several years. Before they leave, Lestat approaches the female. Using the power of thought, she tells him her name, Akasha.
