Part 6, Chapter 5 Summary

Lestat prepares to set sail for the New World and Gabrielle prepares to go into the jungles of Africa. Before she leaves, she makes Lestat promise that he will find her if he ever decides to put an end to his existence. He tells her that he will never put an end to it. He goes on to tell her where he can be reached and before he knows it, she is gone into the night. Later that same night, Lestat chases down a mortal who made their way into his home. After terrorizing him, Lestat claws his way into the earth shortly before dawn and buries himself.

Part 6, Chapter 5 Analysis

While Lestat thinks that it is impossible to subvert destiny, he seeks to triumph over it in preventing Gabrielle from leaving him. The differences between them now are too great...
