Part 2, Chapter 4 Summary
Long after the fire burns out, Lestat sits and continues to cry. He realizes he is no longer human. For a short time he ponders starting another fire and jumping into it, but he knows that he does not want to die. As he calms down, he begins to notice the differences in his body. It does not ache the way it used to and things feel completely different to him. He begins to experience physical death which lasts only a little while. When he gets up, he gathers the ashes he can of Magnus' remains and discards them out the window.
Part 2, Chapter 4 Analysis
When Lestat knows for certain that he will not die, it fills him with a new confidence. He no longer needs to be consumed by his malady of mortality. He only now needs to concern himself...
