Chapters 15-16 Summary

In Chapter 15, Mason brings Rose the box of Vladimir's books. There is one journal by Vladimir, some books about Vladimir written while he was alive, and some written after he died. Rose wants the earliest sources. She reads Vladimir's writings about healing. It makes him ill, crazy, and depressed, and he is thankful for Anna, who helps get him through it. She finds that Vladimir once tried to kill himself, and also finds evidence of him using compulsion on a large scale.

The reason the term "shadow-kissed" is so important to Rose is that one night, Ms. Karp had come to her, hysterical, telling Rose she was shadow-kissed and must look after Lissa, stop her from using her powers, and take her away before "they" get her.
