Chapters 9-10 Summary

In Chapter 9, Rose is in Lissa's mind and sees Lissa meet Christian in the chapel attic. Christian tells her that he created the non-burning fire for her. He argues that magic should be used as a weapon, especially against the threat of the Strigoi. He also points out that Lissa uses forbidden magic. She must have used compulsion while she was on the run, and he's seen her use it at school.

Lissa tells Christian that Rose thinks he's dangerous, and suspects he might have killed the fox. Christian denies it, offering to hurt whoever did it. He grabs Lissa's wrists and notices scars there. Christian asks Lissa what secret she's keeping from him, but she won't tell. Then Rose's link with Lissa's mind breaks. What she's seen leaves her angry and brooding.
