Summary
In "Glory," not long after Glory's rape, Alma went to work early with several other women. Border patrol stopped them, however, and she was deported.
Afterwards, her brother, Victor, began taking care of Glory. He visits her apartment, brings her food, and tells her stories, trying to comfort her. Glory has a difficult time at first, locking herself in her room, barely talking. She grows angry if Victor calls her Gloria instead of Glory. One day, when Victor becomes worried they will be found by immigration agents, he moves Glory to a motel. He gets her own room, and works all day. Glory spends most days locked inside alone. She feels she is not living her own life. She misses her mother, her home, being outdoors. She is so afraid at night that she sleeps with a pocketknife from Victor. He told her...
