Benny Profane is trying to find a job in New York City, since he needs money to meet women. He randomly picks an employment agency, Space/Time Employment Agency, which turns out to be where Rachel Owlglass works. She gives him information about a night watchman's job. Winsome returns to his apartment to find Mafia talking to Pig Bodine. He has heard of Pig's interest in pornography, and how Pig passed on dirty stories through teletype while in the Navy.
