Point of View

Upgrade is told in the first-person point-of-view through the eyes of Logan Ramsay. While the author does use the past tense, it is clear that Logan is talking about the events as they happen to him. This is true even when he skips significant time periods, such as the year at the beginning of chapter Two or the three-year jump in the opening of the epilogue. There is a permanent sense of progression within Logan’s point-of-view, especially as the upgrade takes hold of his mind. However, the limit of Logan’s point-of-view is that he does not know anything that Kara is doing once she decides to release the upgrade.
